Overview

Analyst Institute is looking for a community manager to join our Partnerships & Community Engagement Team and work closely with our Donor Partnerships Team. Both teams collaborate to ensure over a decade’s worth of research and recommendations are disseminated across the progressive, social justice, and civic engagement community. We work to build and support a community of a broad range of organizers, campaigners, strategists, donors, institutional funders, and their advisors and provide them with the best available evidence to use in their program planning, implementation, and investment decision making.

We’re looking to fill the community manager role as soon as possible. We will be accepting applications through November 18, 2022.

The Role

We are seeking an excellent communicator with strong project management and interpersonal skills to join the team as community manager. You’ll lead efforts to engage the Analyst Group (AG), our community of over 12,000 practitioners, researchers, and donors. You’ll guide and implement programming that fosters a strong community and educates members about our latest research findings and recommendations. You’ll also manage logistics and infrastructure to support such efforts.

You’ll report directly to the lead communications strategist while working closely with fellow Partnerships & Community Engagement Team members and the Donor Partnerships Team (as well as the broader Analyst Institute team).

As a community manager, you’ll:

  • Write, edit, and manage the production of engaging content (e.g., reports, presentations, web pages, training materials) that translates research into actionable lessons and recommendations, including Analyst Institute’s weekly newsletter, the AG Digest.
  • Develop and implement strategies to equitably and inclusively grow the Analyst Group membership base and deepen engagement with practitioner and donor partners (e.g., building out a new member onboarding process).
  • Lead planning and coordination for community events and trainings (virtual and in-person). Present Analyst Institute’s research and recommendations to progressive and civic engagement audiences (possibly one to three times a year with opportunity for more, if wanted).
  • Manage member engagement tools (Mailchimp, Copper, Calendly, WordPress, Zoom, Gmail, etc.), and monitor metrics across platforms to improve communications and identify gaps in membership and outreach efforts.
  • Maintain and make improvements to Analyst Institute’s website. Support the facilitation of internal and external stakeholder processes to improve its functionality and user experience.
  • Help Analyst Group members identify and access resources that answer their strategic and programmatic questions and implement strategies that solicit their input on how to make our resources even more useful and accessible.

Qualifications

The following encompasses many of the skills and experiences we consider useful for the community manager role, but we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet all of the qualifications.

You should be someone who:

  • Has professional experience in communications, content, and/or community management.
  • Has experience in event planning/production, content marketing, and member support, plus demonstrated ability to engage with the substance and logistics of such work.
  • Enjoys and excels at writing in a variety of formats and can create visually appealing and accessible content.
  • Can communicate technical concepts, including statistical methods and social science research, in ways that can be easily understood by lay audiences.
  • Can learn new systems and subject matters quickly.
  • Can independently manage projects start-to-finish in a detail-oriented manner while juggling multiple responsibilities with firm deadlines.
  • Creatively collaborates with those of different backgrounds, skill sets, and expertise.

  • Believes deeply that applying evidence to political and social justice campaigns can help further the progressive movement.

Though less necessary for the role, we are interested in people with the following experiences:

  • Professional and/or volunteer experience working on a political or advocacy campaign.
  • Familiarity with the body of academic and practitioner research related to electoral, issue-based, and advocacy campaigns, as well as the findings from Analyst Institute’s signature reports.

About Analyst Institute

Our goal is for all progressive political and social justice campaigns to be informed by rigorous evidence.

We collaborate with progressive organizations and Democratic campaigns around the country to measure and increase the impact of their programs. These research collaborations can then inform future efforts across the progressive movement, giving our side a competitive advantage.

As a clearinghouse for evidence on voter contact and engagement programs, we collect, synthesize, and interpret research in order to make evidence-based recommendations to the progressive community through materials, trainings, and consulting.

Reflecting the advances in research across the movement, we facilitate and convene opportunities for sharing findings and research methods, especially among data analysts, consultants, and campaign professionals.
