Overview
RHEDI is hiring a Communications and Program Associate to implement our communications strategy, expand the impact of our work, and support our programs and operations. This position would be ideal for someone with strong communications and technology skills and an advocacy background in the abortion rights or Reproductive Justice movements.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
COMMUNICATIONS AND OUTREACH
Craft and coordinate RHEDI’s external communications regarding abortion training, Reproductive Justice, reproductive rights, and SRH provision in primary care.
Develop and implement outreach campaigns using social media, graphic design, website management, listserv, audio, video, and other communications tools.
Design and produce RHEDI’s branding, fundraising, and promotional materials, working closely with external vendors, illustrators, and printers.
Conduct donor and subscriber outreach and development, using CRM, SEO, and data management tools.
Represent RHEDI’s work and mission through boothing and advocacy at national medical and abortion-related conferences and meetings. (Includes travel to 3‒5 conferences per year.)
Coordinate and provide logistical support for RHEDI events with the SRH community including webinars, in-person gatherings at conferences, RHEDI Directors meetings and papaya workshops.
Develop and evaluate dissemination plans for RHEDI’s curricular resources.
PROGRAMMATIC
Provide logistical and operational support for the RHEDI program network, training initiatives, and evaluation projects.
Administer RHEDI’s Resident Scholarship Program for Workforce Diversity (RSPWD), soliciting and reviewing applications, and coordinating conference schedules and enrichment opportunities.
Assist development of curricular resources, scholarly publications, and conference presentations, using infographic, editorial, and online presentation tools.
Process paperwork with external vendors and Montefiore for purchase orders, check requests, honoraria, gift cards, and other expenses related to resource development, promotional items, shipping, travel, accommodations, and conference registration and boothing.
Attend occasional in-person planning meetings with RHEDI staff and with the staff of the Montefiore Department of Family and Social Medicine in the Bronx.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in marketing or communications
2‒3 years of professional communications experience, preferably within the abortion rights, SRH, or Reproductive Justice movements.
Exceptional writing and editing skills with a demonstrated ability to write in different styles and for a variety of audiences. (Applicants are encouraged to share examples of their communications and advocacy work.)
Extensive experience with social media outreach and platform optimization. (Applicants are encouraged to send sample posts and campaigns.)
Proficiency with software for graphic design (Adobe software), website management (Elementor and WordPress), videoconferencing (Zoom), and email marketing (Constant Contact); audio/video editing and CRM experience preferred.
Proficiency with basic editorial, spreadsheet, presentation, and document management tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
Strong organizational skills. Can manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and details.
Demonstrated commitment to reproductive health, reproductive rights, or Reproductive Justice preferred.
Tri-state area preferred but open to other applicants willing to maintain an Eastern Time work schedule.
Ability to travel to 3‒5 medical and other conferences around the U.S. each year.
