Executive Director

Good Business Colorado is looking for an Executive Director who can level up and accelerate our organizational growth and impact, with particular focus on 1) revenue generation and fundraising, 2) strategic planning, 3) relationship management, and 4) organizational development.  In other words, the ED is our true leader, the boots-on-the-ground role, propelling Good Business Colorado forward year after year. The ideal candidate has a proven track record scaling an organization towards long term sustainable growth, excels at wearing multiple hats and is excited by new opportunities and challenges. The ED will be supported by GBC’s small but mighty team of two, the Director of Policy and Director of Membership & Programming, and reports directly to the Board of Directors.

The ideal candidate is excellent at building and strengthening relationships and has experience as an entrepreneur/business owner or working with small businesses. They must believe that values-driven business owners and entrepreneurs have a unique voice and important role to play in the policy arena and be committed to lifting up GBC members for their efforts to build a more prosperous, equitable, and sustainable Colorado.

Responsibilities:

  • Practicing and promoting Good Business Colorado’s values of a prosperous economy,
    equitable communities, and a sustainable environment every day.
  • Owning and leading all initiatives for the growth of the organization within the following areas:
  • Revenue generation and fundraising
  • Staff and contractor management and HR
  • Strategic planning
  • Building and maintain relationships with all board members, staff, business partners, members, resource partners, and volunteers to drive the mission and vision of Good Business Colorado
  • Preparing accurate and timely analyses that capture and communicate fundraising results, variances, and performance trends
  • Provide leadership to and manage the efforts of staff to ensure appropriate support for all departments
  • Recruit, hire, and retain program members, staff, and volunteers
  • Source and vet resources that support staff, and other organization stakeholders
  • Supervise the development of operations processes and procedures
  • Approve major systems implementations related to cost and member experience
  • Ensure that services and funding relationships are robust enough to meet or exceed
    strategic goals and objectives
  • Complete annual strategic planning to set goals for the organization, then facilitate action plans to reach those goals each year.
    Regularly updating the board on progress towards goals and strategically engaging board members in organizational activities.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience leading a nonprofit association or advocacy organization as Executive Director or similar role
  • Extensive experience with staff and board management
  • Experience planning and implementing fundraising initiatives that enabled an organization to scale and sustain a next-level operating budget
  • Keen eye for strategic partnerships and the proven ability to cultivate and sustain them
  • Experience strategically leveraging  volunteers to drive organizational goals

The position can be based anywhere in Colorado although much of the work is done at the Colorado State Capitol in Denver and statewide travel is required.

The entire GBC team currently works remotely. The candidate must have advanced command of Zoom and other remote meeting platforms. The position also requires a willingness to work outside the standard 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM M-F hours, and to occasionally work long hours when the Colorado legislature is in session typically mid-January through mid-May, utilizing flex time to maintain a 40-hour work week.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary is $85,000 – $95,000
