Position: Program Manager
Organization: American Academy of HIV Medicine
Location: Washington, DC-based, fully remote FTE but some travel required
Travel: Occasional, Domestic
Salary: Commensurate with Experience; starting at $55,000 gross/yearly
Summary: The American Academy of HIV Medicine is seeking a Program Manager to provide logistical support in the planning and administration of the Academy’s education and professional development programs, in coordination with the Director of Development, Membership Director and Director of Experiential Learning/Clinical Review. The Program Manager will assist in the development of online educational activities, including management of program specific websites and course development for adult learners.
The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of professional experience and an interest in gaining experience in medical education programming and development. This is a great opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented professional, with room for growth within the organization and a chance to work with both a small and dedicated staff and a robust and diverse membership of clinicians.
Major Responsibilities:
Program Support and Management
- On-site meeting coordination and location contracts management
- Coordinate applications and compliance with CME accrediting vendor
- Manage the development and distribution of all materials relevant to programs with Communications Department
- Support membership department by identifying opportunities for committee members, and their referrals, to serve as faculty or subject matter experts in educational programs.
- Coordinate and communicate with educational partners, online CME vendors and other sponsors and supporters
- Staff regional events*
- Support the Membership department in organizing and coordinating the meetings of state and regional steering committees and other standing committees of clinician members.
- Assist with virtual committee meetings to assess and document issues and priorities of Academy members, including contemporaneous notes from committee meetings
- Provide program support to the Academy Council for Racial Equity’s Minority Student Open, an annual virtual conference connecting health students from minority groups with opportunities for mentoring, professional development and career advancement
- Broadly assist in the development of programs and activities
- Ad hoc/other administrative support for Education and Membership departments on programs and development work
Online Educational Support and Management
- Participate in development efforts for large-scale, web-based clinical education projects, ensuring robust courses and activities are implemented
- Participate in developing visual and interactive design elements for adult learning courses
- Help record, edit and publish a variety of videos, slide presentations, lectures, and podcasts.
Reports to: Development Director
Preferred Skills/Knowledge
- At least 1-3 years experience with professional software development learning management systems such as PATH, Storyline etc.
- An understanding of fundamental visual and interactive design disciplines
- Experience with back-end web development and maintenance
- Experience with A/V recording and editing preferred
- Sufficient knowledge of the clinical aspects of HIV disease and a working understanding of topics related to sexual health
- Experience with grants/program management
- Desire to help inform future programs and activities
- Ability to travel domestically up to 15% of the time
- Knowledge or lived experience with centering equity, diversity and justice principles within organizational work or commitment to learning about these as the Academy continues to prioritize organizational improvement
Experience/education
- 1-3 or more years of related experience preferred, working in educational or web design and adult education with an interest in public health or with provider/medical education programs. This may include experience with professional education, higher education or with another trade association.
- Bachelor’s degree or above preferred in computer sciences, education, public health, sociology, or related field.
