About the Position

Ohio Voice’s accounting associate will work as part of and report to a team on various projects, working closely with the Finance and Administration Director on accounting/finance responsibilities and other team members on logistics and systems to support the entire Ohio Voice team. We are looking for someone passionate about systems! The accounting associate will be a valued team member- we recognize this work’s importance. Our small organization has grown, has many facets to our work, and needs processes to ensure our work is tracked and reportable for different audiences as easily as possible. The accounting associate will do reconciliations and basic accounting and support the setup of systems and logistics as needed for our fiscally managed organizations.

Qualifications

A proven commitment to and passion for justice and relevant experience with accounting and other logistics are strongly preferred.
Active interest in accounting and other behind-the-scenes work that makes our work possible.
Proven ability to conceptualize and implement systems
Proficient with spreadsheets
Experience with Quickbooks
Strong project management skills, ability to consistently meet deadlines and/or communicate when things change
Must be able to work independently and as a team leader
Track record of working with underrepresented communities is strongly preferred, particularly in communities of color, with demonstrable cultural competency

Primary Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & reconciling all organizational income and expenses, fiscal sponsorship partners, and fiscally managed organizations
Record financial transactions into appropriate ledgers, databases, and software, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments
Reconcile and balance accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data
Process and prepare invoices, receipts, and bills for payments
Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and report
Maintain and update general ledger entries
Participate in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts
Participate in payroll processing and associated tax obligations
Assist in various administrative and clerical tasks related to finance
Administration of credit card program, including monthly reconcilement & organizing receipts
Developing and overseeing implementation of other systems – (online) file management, grants management and evaluation, etc.
Process building and procedure implementation for Ohio Voice and fiscal management organizations
Mileage and expense reimbursement tracking

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is $20,000-$24,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience, plus generous benefits. This position is classified as part-time (20 hours per week).

Location

Ohio Voice is based in Columbus, but remote work is the norm currently and will be no problem in the future. Strong preference for someone based in Ohio, but open to applicants anywhere.
