Overview
HPP seeks a dynamic, highly organized self-starter to lead partnership development, community engagement, and related program initiatives; assist in grant writing; and provide administrative support. The successful candidate will have outstanding people skills and enjoy creating new relationships, be highly organized, and have experience in collaborative projects or organizations.
This is an opportunity to work with a small, vibrant non-profit organization during a period of re-building under the supervision and mentorship of a highly experienced non-profit executive. The Manager will be in a position to make substantive contributions to the community by helping to strengthen a cornerstone of Paterson’s economic, historic, and cultural revitalization, as well as to gain greater knowledge and expertise in non-profit management, program development, communications, and fund raising.
The Manager will report to and work closely with the Interim Executive Director. This is a hybrid position, with the expectation that the Manager will work on site, in a shared office with the IED, at least two days/week. Some evenings and weekends will be required. S/he will have a large degree of autonomy, working independently on projects and representing the organization in the Paterson community and around the region on a regular basis.
Responsibilities include:
- Facilitate effective relationships with consultants and partners integral to the completion of various projects and events.
- Maintain regular local presence in the Paterson community, supporting strong relationships with partner organizations; attend periodic community meetings, such as Paterson Alliance meetings and round tables
- Conceive, create, plan, and execute mission-focused programs in the Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park in collaboration with National Park Service Staff and community partners.
- Participate in drafting, writing, and submitting grant proposals and reports for program initiatives.
- Provide data entry and database support
- Supervise temporary administrative or clerical staff as needed
- Interface with consultants and vendors
- Staff the Program and Outreach Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Requirements
- 3+ years non-profit experience in a program or community engagement role
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish
- Outstanding writing and communication skills
- Experience or demonstrated interest in parks, education, immigration, environment and sustainability, urban planning, historic preservation, and other key issues in urban revitalization or parks
- Experience working with community organizing initiatives, particularly among low-income or under-served communities
- Demonstrated ability to build community relationships
- Familiarity with Paterson and surrounding communities

Salary range: $65,000 – $75,000
Benefits package includes 11 paid holidays; two floating paid days off; 15 days paid vacation in first year, 20 thereafter; 3 to 7 days bereavement leave; 100% of premium for New Jersey Marketplace Silver Level or equivalent medical, vision, and dental insurance.
