Overview
Seafood and Gender Equality (SAGE), a fiscally sponsored program of Coastal Quest, is seeking a Gender Strategy Consultant responsible for laying the groundwork for SAGE’s new programmatic branch. SAGE promotes gender equality in global seafood production and an equitable, diverse, and inclusive seafood industry. SAGE focuses on three strategic pillars: education and awareness raising about the issues of inequality in the sector, building community and capacity, and gender mainstreaming or the integration of gender into all policies, tools, and activities deployed in the sector.
SAGE is in an exciting phase of growth and development, and this role will be integral to shaping our programs and services in the years to come. The Consultant will work directly with SAGE’s Program Manager to design a programmatic plan for implementing this new branch. Currently, SAGE offers three programs: The Bloom, a networking community for women and genderqueer people within the seafood sector; The Conch, a podcast showcasing the contributions made by women and genderqueer people to the sector; and our Gender Equality Dialogues (GED). The Program Manager is currently leading a pilot of the GED – a program that aligns seafood industry leaders on issues relating to gender equality, and supports them through a year long learning and engagement curriculum in which they co-create commitments to address gender equality within their companies. SAGE is committed to working with seafood companies and organizations to promote gender equality internally before looking down their supply chains.
To that end, SAGE aims to amplify its impact by offering strategic gender consultation services to the seafood sector, including seafood companies and non-profit organizations affiliated with the sustainable seafood movement. The Consultant will work closely and collaboratively with the Program Manager to develop pilot activities, such as the adaptation of existing, and the development of new materials and guidelines to support SAGE’s gender audits and consulting program.
Please note that no travel is associated with this consultancy; it is desk-research and correspondence.

Deliverable 3: Based on this assessment, the consultant will prepare:

– Guidance for the auditor
– A comprehensive list of essential resources and materials to
monitor and evaluate progress.
