About the position
Reporting to the Vice President, Training, the Director, Instructional Design will play a pivotal role in the building and refinement of StriveTogether’s online learning portfolio. In this role, the instructional designer will be responsible for the creation, implementation and improvement of engaging and effective eLearning modules, lessons and courses designed to build the competencies and skills of place-based partnership staff and partners to improve outcomes and create equitable systems in their community.
Responsibilities and duties
Course Design & Development
Lead the design and development of cohesive and comprehensive eLearning offerings across various modalities (eLearning, hybrid and in-person offerings)
Collaborate with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and other team members to ensure that learning content meets the needs of the learners and StriveTogether.
Design, develop and deploy interactive eLearning content using authoring tools (e.g. Articulate Storyline, Captivate)
Convert existing in-person training materials into interactive and engaging eLearning content.
Ensure all eLearning content is compliant with SCORM and xAPI standards.
Design and implement feedback mechanisms to ensure content meets learning objectives and user needs.
Analyze course metrics, course faculty feedback and learner feedback to continuously refine and improve content.
Ensure all eLearning content is accessible and adheres to ADA guidelines.
Embed diversity, equity and inclusion principles within all eLearning materials.
Collaboration & Consultation
Work with a broader training team to align eLearning initiatives to meet organizational goals.
Stay updated on latest trends, techniques and technologies in eLearning to ensure StriveTogether remains at the forefront of digital learning.
Learning Management System (LMS) Integration:
Upload, test and troubleshoot courses in StriveTogether’s LMS system, Docebo.
Maintain and update existing courses and content as needed
Project Management
Oversee multiple instructional design projects concurrently, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
Establish and streamline processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the instructional design lifecycle.
Leadership responsibilities
Model core values through your work
Conduct regular, scheduled team and one-on-one meetings with all direct reports to hold accountability, provide coaching, give feedback, monitor progress to individual and collective goals, hold spaces for learning, discuss professional development opportunities and collaborate on shared bodies of work.
Conduct annual Reflection and Continuous Improvement Cycle (RCIC) review including providing a rating and recommending appropriate merit increases and mid-year RCIC review.
Hold yourself and your team accountable for being good financial stewards, managing risk and using data as a critical input into decision-making.
Qualifications and skills
Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of lived, related experience, Master’s degree preferred
5 or more years of professional experience in instructional, eLearning design with a demonstrated track record leading or supporting large-scale learning projects
Expertise in a variety of eLearning authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline, Captivate and others.
Strong foundation in adult learning principles, instructional design theories, eLearning and assessment methodologies
Believes deeply in championing race equity and committed to ensuring all children succeed regardless of race, socioeconomic status or zip code
Ability to mentor or lead junior team members
Exceptional project management skills with experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to think critically and solve problems
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Approximately 10% travel required
Position details
This is an exempt position with a salary range of $81,000 – $122,000 (min – max). StriveTogether offers competitive salary and benefits, commensurate with experience and skills. This position may work remotely or out of our headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio.
