Job Title: Content Writer (Contract Position)

Overview:
Jeweld Legacy Group (JLG), a Black, woman-owned, equity-centered consulting firm based in Oakland, CA, is seeking a versatile Content Writer for a contract position. The role involves spearheading two essential projects: our 10-year anniversary publication and the development of content for our new website.

As part of the company’s 10-year anniversary, JLG will be undergoing a rebranding effort which includes a visual overhaul and a name change from Jeweld Legacy Group to Jeweld Consulting.

This role will work closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager and will require multiple interviews with stakeholders, both internal and external.

Responsibilities:

10-Year Anniversary Publication:

  • Compile stories and anecdotes that illustrate the journey from Jeweld Legacy to Jeweld Consulting.
  • Present these stories in a narrative format that is friendly, approachable, and reflective of the company’s culture.
  • Conduct 4-6 staff interviews, approximately 30 minutes each.
  • Capture anecdotes and insights that highlight key moments and changes.
  • Draft 1-2 paragraph articles for each interview.
  • Prepare 6-8 project summaries, each roughly one page in length.
  • Interviews with stakeholders (internal and external) will be required.
  • Create 2 versions of opening statements reflecting potential outcomes of Presidential election.
  • Develop a 1 page narrative of Jeweld Consulting’s journey, emphasizing the transition from Jeweld Legacy.
  • Include anecdotes and reflections that embody the theme “continuing our legacy.”
  • Write 4-6 intros about products, each consisting of 1-2 paragraphs.

Website Development:

  • Craft compelling content for roughly 10 new web pages, focusing on our rebrand, team, legacy, clients, and services.
  • Adapt and refine content from the 10-year anniversary publication where applicable.
  • Ensure all content aligns with SEO best practices and effectively communicates our brand identity.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Content and/or Web Writer with a portfolio showcasing successful projects in both areas.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen ability to create engaging and approachable content.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of SEO and best practices in web copywriting.
  • Ability to conduct interviews and synthesize information into compelling narratives.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with web designers and stakeholders.

Timeline and Compensation:

  • Flat fee contract of $5,000: $2,500 upfront, $2,500 upon completion of the project.
  • Ideal start date is between August 26-September 4, 2024
  • The project timeline spans roughly two months from hiring date with a hard deadline of November 8, 2024.
  • This is a remote position.

Potential for Permanent Part-Time Role:
If interested, this contract position could transition into a permanent part-time writing role (20 hours per week) with Jeweld Legacy Group upon successful completion of the projects.
