Overview

The Head of Marketing drives Swing Left and Vote Forward’s brand, messaging, and growth strategy to increase the organization’s engagement, visibility, and credibility in service of maximum impact. The Head of Marketing sits on the senior leadership team and reports to the Managing Director. Key responsibilities include:

  • Directly manage a team of between two and six team members (depending on point in the cycle) across social media, email, press/communications, graphic design, and other key functions. This role would lead hiring for open full-time and contract positions across these functions
  • Own brand, messaging, and audience growth strategy
  • Oversee digital marketing, content, and media strategy
  • Define and promote organizational voice and messaging framework across the organization, balancing the tension between brand and growth tactics
  • Oversee cross-team campaign launches and day-to-day external communications

Qualities of the Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for a mission-aligned leader with deep brand, digital marketing, and/or communications experience who blends creative vision with executional rigor—someone who can shape a compelling brand and messaging strategy from a user-first perspective while also driving day-to-day results across channels. The ideal candidate is an excellent manager and communicator who’s excited to lead ambitious, innovative, and impactful work.

  • A strong interest in and alignment with the distinct missions and values of Swing Left and Vote Forward
  • 10+ years in brand, digital marketing, and/or communications (experience in both strategy and execution is key)
  • Experience in political, advocacy, or grassroots organizing spaces is preferred
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing multi-channel marketing and communications strategies across earned and owned media
  • Strong understanding of growth marketing and audience engagement tactics
  • Background in a brand agency or a brand strategy-heavy role is a plus
  • Strong leadership, team management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Expert written and verbal communication skills––excellent writing, copy writing, and editing are a high priority

Logistics

Hiring Process:

  • Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis
  • The priority deadline to apply is April 21 2025, but applications will be accepted until the posting is closed
  • We plan to begin interviews in late April and are aiming for a June start date
  • We will communicate about our expected timeline as the process progresses, and all candidates will receive communication from our team regarding their application status

Compensation:

  • The pay range is $155,000 – $170,000/year (starting salary)
  • We provide an annual cost of living compensation increase

Location and Working Hours:

  • This position is a full-time, exempt, and remote position based in the United States. We are an entirely remote team with staff located across the country
  • We expect employees to be available for virtual meetings and asynchronous collaboration during normal business hours, and sometimes outside of these hours for events or other peak moments
  • Some travel is expected for this position, including for occasional in-person meetings
