Position Summary
Are you a natural storyteller with a passion for mission-driven work? Do you love turning big ideas into bold campaigns that move people to act? New Moms is looking for a Marketing & Communications Manager who brings creativity, strategy, and heart to everything they do. In this role, you’ll be the voice behind our brand—shaping how we tell our story, celebrate young moms’ achievements, and inspire our community to get involved. From managing multi-channel campaigns to crafting compelling narratives, you’ll play a key role in building awareness, deepening engagement, and amplifying the impact of our work across Chicago and beyond.
Location: Chicago, IL with hybrid schedule available
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week
Starting Salary: $60,000-$65,000 DOQ
What a Day Might Look Like
- Kicking off your morning by reviewing social media engagement and tweaking content to boost reach
- Interviewing a young mom to highlight her journey in an upcoming blog post
- Creating sharp, on-brand visuals in Canva for an upcoming fundraising event
- Meeting with the Development team to brainstorm messaging for a new donor appeal
- Editing web content to make sure our mission shines through every page
- Posting and emailing an urgent advocacy alert and a corresponding press release to elevate important issues.
- Wrapping up with scheduling posts and planning content for next week
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of a dynamic marketing and communications strategy
- Create and manage content across digital platforms, including email, website, and social media
- Craft compelling stories and visual assets that reflect the strength and spirit of young moms
- Manage New Moms’ brand presence, ensuring consistency, clarity, and inclusivity in all messaging
- Support fundraising campaigns with strategic communications and donor-facing materials
- Build relationships with press and media contacts to increase visibility
- Track key performance indicators and use data to optimize communications impact
- Collaborate across departments to gather stories, updates, and content ideas

Qualifications
Commitment & Education
- Passionate commitment to the mission and values of New Moms
- Bachelor’s degree required; preferred fields include Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, or related areas
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, marketing, or social media roles preferred
Skills & Traits
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with strong editing and proofreading abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Skilled in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
- Experienced with email marketing platforms like Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar
- Basic videography and video editing skills; photography experience is a plus
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Collaborative team player with a proactive and creative mindset
Other Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record and current insurance
- Flexibility to occasionally work afternoons, evenings, and weekends as needed
Work Environment: Must be able to sit/stand for up to 8 hours, walk stairs, and lift up to 30-40 lbs (or perform with reasonable accommodation). Work environments may vary.
