Job Title: Technical Coordinator

Reports to: Executive Director

FLSA Status: Exempt

Hours: 40 hours/week

Compensation: DOE

Primary Site: 2435 N. Lombard St., Portland, OR 97217. Partially or fully remote a possibility

The Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) is currently seeking a full-time (40 hrs/week) Technical Coordinator. We are a non-profit organization established in 1998 that rates the energy performance of roofing products, supports technical research, and educates the public about the impacts of cool roofing. We are a small, tight-knit team looking for a highly motivated self-starter who is excited to learn and grow with the organization.

The Technical Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Managing the CRRC’s technical research efforts, which involves collaborating with study partners, completing data analysis, and developing technical reports
  • Facilitating conference calls and meetings for CRRC committees and technical working groups
  • Acting as the point of contact for approved CRRC testing laboratories, providing ongoing training and support for testing laboratories, and overseeing the biennial interlaboratory compliance assessment
  • Overseeing the CRRC’s quality assurance testing program, including product selection, managing subcontractors for collection and testing, and performing data analysis
  • Creating and giving presentations about CRRC technical topics
  • Answering technical questions from CRRC stakeholders
  • Supporting standards development activities
  • Supporting colleagues on various program activities
  • Additional duties as assigned

Position requires business travel roughly 5-7 times a year

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field
  • At least three years of related work experience in a role with a technical aspect
  • Proficiency with computer software, particularly Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle competing priorities with minimal guidance
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems
  • Ability to quickly understand technical concepts and clearly communicate technical information to a broad audience of stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail and error-free work
  • Demonstration of initiative, flexibility, accountability, and ownership of assigned tasks
  • Collaborative team player willing to perform tasks outside of their area of responsibility
  • Commitment to learning and growing professionally with the organization

Desired Experience (Not Mandatory):

  • Familiarity with building science concepts or roofing and/or exterior wall products
  • Familiarity with auditing concepts, root cause analysis, and/or ISO 17065 or 17025 Accreditation
  • Experience with technical analysis software/ programming language, such as SAS, SPSS, R, or Python
  • Experience with ASTM, ANSI, and/or the use of industry-accepted, consensus-based standards
  • Experience presenting to large groups

About Cool Roof Rating Council

The Cool Roof Rating Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that develops fair, accurate, and credible methods for evaluating and labeling the radiative properties of roofing and exterior wall products. The CRRC also provides education to the public on how cool roofs and solar-reflective walls can help improve building performance, increase occupant comfort, mitigate the urban heat island effect, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Mission

  • To implement and communicate fair, accurate, and credible radiative energy performance rating systems for roof or wall surfaces
  • To support research into energy related radiative properties of roof or wall surfaces, including durability of those properties
  • To provide education and objective support to parties interested in understanding and comparing various product options

By pursuing this mission, the CRRC will become the recognized informational resource for reducing the urban heat island effect, increasing building energy efficiency, improving occupant comfort, and mitigating the global climate effects of greenhouse gas emissions.
