Overview

We are hiring a communications professional with 2-5 years experience to manage media relations and implement strategic communications campaigns for our clients advancing the social good. You will report to a Director.

EMC Communications is a woman-owned strategic communications firm elevating thought leaders, advocates and businesses driving social change. We offer integrated public relations, messaging and digital media campaigns focusing on political advocacy and issues advancing the social good, especially gender, racial, economic, and social justice, and environmental sustainability.

Title and salary will be determined by level of experience, as defined below.

The successful candidate with 2-3 years of experience will be a Senior Associate. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Helping coordinate client projects
  • Writing and pitching press releases, media availabilities, statements, letters to the editor and more
  • Directly pitching journalists
  • Developing and executing social media content and strategy
  • Updating and managing lists of media contacts
  • Monitoring media and social media
  • Researching and writing talking points

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience working in communications
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills
  • Comfort with tight and shifting deadlines
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently essential
  • Experience working in advocacy organizations a plus
  • Journalism or agency experience a plus but not required

Starting salary range for the Senior Associate is $56,000-65,000; generous medical, dental and retirement benefits included; paid holidays, paid sick and paid time off. MacBook Air provided. $100 cell phone and Internet stipend, paid monthly.

This position is full-time, remote. Location flexible.

  • Account and client management
  • Writing and pitching press releases, media availabilities, statements, letters to the editor and more
  • Directly pitching journalists
  • Developing and executing social media content and strategy
  • Updating and managing lists of media contacts
  • Monitoring media and social media
  • Researching and writing talking points

Starting salary range for the Communications Manager is $66,000-$75,000, with the same benefits.
