Position Overview:

The Northwest Community Bail Fund is hiring an Interim Executive Director to advance our mission, ensure continued growth and partner with our dedicated staff and advisory board. This is a crucial role during a transitional period where we seek stability and strong leadership.

Our ideal candidate is based in King, Snohomish or Pierce counties and is a strategic thinker with hands-on experience putting effective and efficient systems in place and leading a team to execute it. We seek a proven leader who can work in alignment with our organization values, understands the populations we are working with, and who can forge collaborative relationships with our partners. The role will include an audit of our systems and policies; recommendations for how to mature these systems to increase quality, efficiency and prepare us for growth; and responsibility for leading the design, implementation and/or upgrading of new and existing systems in collaboration with staff and board members. The Interim Executive Director will lead our fundraising and partnership-building strategies, and work with partners to market the program and recruit new participants.

It is our intention that this position will only last 6 months . This interim role will help us prepare for this exciting milestone. If the interim is interested and is a good fit for our growing needs, this role has the potential to grow into a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

• Provide visionary leadership to the organization during a period of transition, supervising and supporting staff, and working closely with Board of Directors.

• Identify and drive organizational development priorities including developing/updating systems to mature organizational functions and measurably improve outcomes.

• Supervise and support staff to ensure the smooth functioning of daily operations.

• Foster a supportive and empowering work environment for our mission-driven staff to ensure each team member sees their connection to NWCB’s impact, upholds our equity-driven, client-centered approach, and has opportunities for continued growth and learning.

Fundraising and Financial Management:

Develop and implement fundraising strategies to ensure the financial stability of the organization.
Prepare annual budget.
Collaborate with board leadership and staff on budget and forecast.
Manage all aspects of fundraising including maintaining donor relationships, including individual donors, foundations, and grants; and identifying, writing, and manage grants.
Oversee budget planning and financial reporting.
Maintain donor database and communications.
Contract auditors and participate in semiannual audits.

Strategic Program Development and Implementation:

Participate with the staff and Board in active brainstorming, thought leadership and discussions about NCBF and the strategic direction.
Collaborate with the staff and Board to develop and implement programs that align with the organization’s mission and goals.
Monitor program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement during transition.
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Prepare and submit reports to funders and the board of directors.

Advocacy and Community Engagement:

Represent the organization in community forums, with partners, and to the media if needed.
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including legal professionals, community organizations, and government agencies.

Qualifications:

• Proven leadership and management experience in the nonprofit sector.

• Strong understanding of social justice issues, particularly those related to the criminal punishment system and bail reform.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Fundraising and grant-writing experience.

• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Compensation:

This is a part time, contract position for an initial period of 6 months with potential to extend/expand the contract or grow into a salaried position. The compensation range for this position is $52,000 for a part-time time position of 20 hours per week.
