Job Title: Program Associate
Classification: This is a full time exempt position. US based, fully remote. A typical work week is Monday-Friday. The position includes some travel, 3-4 per year.

Position Summary

The Program Associate manages the day to day activities of Democracy Rising’s Democracy Transformation Project, which launched in 2023, and reports to the Director of Outreach and Partnerships. The Democracy Transformation Project’s primary priority is to support a cohort of women of color leaders across the country. These women work locally in their communities to strengthen and reimagine democracy, as elected officials, advocates, or organizers. This emerging program includes in-person retreats for the cohort members (2 per year), and other learning and relationship building opportunities for our leaders, as well as opportunities for partnership with other similarly focused organizations around the country. The role of the Program Associate will focus on program management, development, implementation, and coordination. This position will require some travel, approximately 3-4 times per year.

 

Essential Functions

Collaborate with the Director of Outreach and Partnerships on the design and development of program strategies.
Manage  the implementation of  program strategies.
Develop goals and metrics to track program implementation progress.
Manage relationships with our leaders, providing support to them as needed, addressing questions, and facilitating effective problem solving.
Draft communications about the Project, to be included in newsletters, etc.
Support the Director of Outreach and Partnerships on preparing and reviewing grant documents.
Manage and execute logistics of virtual and in-person meetings and trainings.

Required Competencies

Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Experience with program management, to include learning and evaluation skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Direct community organizing experience (2+ years).
Demonstrated ability to problem solve, sound decision making skills.
Excellent organization skills.
Good writing skills.

Prefered Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
Bilingual (Spanish, Cantonese or Mandarin, Vietnamese, Tagalog, or Arabic).

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $70,000, commensurate with experience.
