Senior Content Specialist

The AWS Security team is looking for a Senior Content Specialist to craft insightful and compelling content on security “of the cloud” and “in the cloud” that translates into increased customer education and action. Your content will earn customers’ trust because it’s clearly written, purposeful, and about their top-of-mind issues. You know what your audience cares about because you do your research, listen to them, and pay attention to the data. As a self-starter, you will acquire subject matter knowledge to articulate messaging that advocates on behalf of AWS security and our customers.
Your ability to collaborate across teams is highly critical given the degree of interaction required with leaders throughout the organization- from technical subject matter experts to executives. You’ll work with product leaders, technical experts and senior leaders on content that ranges from high-level concepts and themes to technical deep-dives and “how-to” procedures. Whitepapers, web pages, and blog posts are the content types you’ll most frequently create, but there are always opportunities to contribute to UI text and design, strategic documents, social media posts, training, etc.
This role has a broad charter and your responsibilities reflect that. You’ll work at both tactical and strategic levels to:

– Develop cloud security and compliance thought leadership content leveraging different modalities
· Drive service adoption with content experiences based on the advanced product knowledge you develop
· Anticipate internal and external customer priorities by staying connected to their evolving needs and exploring innovative solutions to address top-of-mind issues
– Manage multiple projects simultaneously often under accelerated time frames
· Build credibility with, earn the trust of, and influence customers, stakeholders, and senior leaders
· Partner with product developers, PMs and subject matter experts to drive creation of high value content that aligns with business and customer priorities
· Work independently with confidence, but with an awareness of and commitment to helping your team succeed

Basic Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Business information security/technology or a related field
– 7+ years experience in developing strategy, content and communications on security and compliance topics for practitioners and C-level audiences
– Highly effective cross-team collaboration skills and ability to reconcile competing views while maintaining the trust of stakeholders
– Demonstrated ability to draft content with minimal source material
– Knowledge and understanding of cloud services and customer cloud adoption landscape
– Knowledge and understanding of cloud security and compliance
– Excellent verbal, written and communication skills, including with senior leaders
– Proven aptitude and high judgment for balancing multiple priorities with tight time frames

Preferred Qualifications

· Advanced degree in business information security/technology/management, cybersecurity, political science or related field
· Experience with HTML, XML, or another markup language and content management systems
· Experience with AWS services
· A broad set of content experiences, including having worked as an editor
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
