Technical Editor

AWS Security is looking for a Technical Editor to be a strong customer advocate and a resource to raise the content quality bar of our blog posts and other written collateral. You’ll work with product leaders and technical experts on content that ranges from high-level conceptual descriptions to technical deep-dives and “how-to” procedures. You’ll help them make their content relevant and easily accessible to our audience and help them feel good about the process of getting there. Refined “soft skills” are important in this role because you’ll need to maintain a very high quality bar for customers while encouraging the diverse group of authors who write for the AWS Security Blog.
This role has a broad charter and your responsibilities reflect that. You will work on both tactical and strategic levels, including:
· Perform all levels of edit, with a strong emphasis on developmental editing
· Create social media posts to promote the content
· Contribute to process development and continuous improvement
· Manage your own projects and contribute to the overall project management framework
· Analyze data and apply your insights to content, processes, and strategic initiatives
· Develop strategic initiatives, implement them effectively, and be willing to hand them off successfully so you can develop more
· Work independently with confidence, but with an awareness of and commitment to helping your team succeed





Basic Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, or a related field
· Demonstrable experience creating content for technical audiences
· Excellent editing and writing skills, with close attention paid to details
· Experience with HTML, XML, or another markup language
· Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline and quality-driven environment
· Ability to operate independently, but also communicate effectively to your team and across the organization
· Experience managing content projects, including coordinating with other teams

· Strong creative and conceptual thinker
· Experience as a teacher
· Comfort communicating with all levels of an organization
· Proficient using a content management system and other content creation tools
· Experience with SEO
· Personal initiative, flexibility, and intellectual curiosity
· Experience working as part of a global team with remote colleagues
· Experience working in an agile content development environment
