CFA is a fast growing organization in year three that is looking for an experienced and creative communications/development pro to help design and implement our development and communications strategy.

Who we are

CFA is a small but mighty nonprofit focused on the connections between the financial industry and climate justice. We focus on empowering workers – pension trustees and local union leadership – and other leaders to move large pools of capital to be part of mitigating climate risk and moving the economy to a low-carbon future. We work in partnership with a broad array of organizations in climate justice and climate finance campaigning.

The role

We are looking for a strong communications professional who can drive and execute the strategic communications pieces of CFA’s work.

Development

  • Create concept pieces for our current and future work, including grant proposals, presentations, and reports.

Communications

  • Develop communications plans and strategies.
  • Conceptualize, write, edit, produce, and distribute research and advocacy materials.
  • Provide communications leadership on specific projects, including trainings and educational resources.
  • Identify strategic opportunities for CFA to get our message out, including developing earned media opportunities and crafting strategic messaging for offline and online platforms.

The Communications and Development Specialist is likely to evolve over time as we add new staff to CFA. Your work may evolve according to CFA’s needs and your skills and interests.

About you

  • You have a minimum of 10 years’ experience leading and implementing in communications roles.
  • You are someone who is excited about shaping and executing key strategies of a small team.
  • You are a proactive team player with strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • You have an ability to understand complex issues and communicate them clearly to targeted audiences.
  • You have excellent writing and editing skills and can produce content quickly.
  • You are familiar with working collaboratively across organizations. You are looking for a long term role, 25-30 hours per week, on a contract basis that may turn into a full time staff position.

  • This is a contract position. The total budget cap for this work is $100,000. Actual hourly rate, number of hours, length of contract, and other terms will depend on experience and hours. This role may turn into an employee position depending on the preference of the person who takes on the role, funding, and other considerations.
