Overview

As Software Developer and Coordinator, you will play an integral role in promoting the Common Impact Data Standard, and growing the number of aligned software. You will be the lead technical advisor to third-party software developers who want to align their products with the Common Impact Data Standard. This will include supporting the development of Common Approach’s systems, processes, and documentation to alignment.

You will collaborate directly with a variety of software developers and other technical experts, build relationships with users of the data standards, and support the ongoing development and release of new versions of the Common Impact Data Standard and other Common Approach standards in accordance with our guiding principles.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting software in achieving alignment with the Common Impact Data Standard. This will include answering alignment and coding questions from software, ensuring collection alignment with standard, ensuring JSON-LD export files are aligned, and ensuring imports are aligned.
  • Developing resources for software alignment, such as guidelines, examples, code snippets, sample data files, and documentation of issues, challenges and solutions.
  • Leading the development of extensions, add-ons, templates and other tools to extract, transform, and load aligned data interchange formats (currently JSON-LD; may include Turtle in the future). Development will focus on tools that are widely used tools by social enterprises and social finance institutions like Airtable, Excel, Google Sheets, etc.
  • Becoming the in-house subject-matter expert for software development and alignment with the Common Approach Standards. You’ll be able to answer questions related to software alignment, coding, data interchange formats, and alignment with the Standard.
  • Supporting the ongoing work of updating of the standard, including writing OWL and context files.
  • Managing Github resources and files available Supporting the development of visualization and AI tools for Common Approach in partnership with existing or new partners as necessary.

About you You:

  • Have an educational background in computer science, engineering, data sciences, or a related area.
  • Have at least 3 years of experience as a software and/or database developer.
  • Are proficient in developing code using various programming languages, including strong experience coding in Javascript and Python. Are experienced in troubleshooting and debugging software.
  • Are enthusiastically aligned with Common Approach’s guiding principles: building impact measurement standards that are shaped by users and that place power with operating charities, social purpose organizations and those they serve.
