Job Overview

As the remote operations manager, you will be responsible for managing, streamlining, and in some cases building internal systems for executing processes,  including bookkeeping, invoicing, website updates, requesting files from clients, managing files, and tracking progress on client projects.  The ideal candidate has experience managing operations for a small but growing professional services company or in a K-12 educational setting.  Strong organizational skills, comfort with technology, problem solving abilities, communication skills, flexibility, and attention to detail are critical.

District Public is a small but growing company (currently five team members) and all employees work remotely — this position is a remote-only position.  As such, you will be comfortable working both independently and in collaboration with team members, as well as communicating remotely via phone, email, videoconference, and other communication channels.

Compensation

This is a part time, hourly position.  We estimate 10-20 hours per week, with potential to increase the hours and scope of responsibilities over time.  Hourly wage is $30-$40/hour depending on experience.

Responsibilities and Duties

The person in this role is responsible for:

Managing, streamlining, and in some cases building internal systems to execute the processes below:

  • Soliciting files from clients needed to conduct analyses, keeping track of which and when files are received, and following up with clients
  • Billing and invoicing to clients including tracking purchase orders, sending and following up on contracts, creating and sending invoices and supporting documentation
  • Paying bills, managing vendor relationships, bookkeeping, and running payroll
  • Data entry
  • Scheduling
  • Updating website and marketing materials
  • Managing and cleaning client data
  • Executing administrative tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project management experience
  • Familiarity with Quickbooks, Gusto, Jira, Wix and other office management systems
  • Experience with SQL, R, Google Workspace tools
  • Experience working in K-12 public education, particularly NYC Department of Education schools
  • Interest in public K-12 education

Reports To

You will report to Luke Davenport and will work collaboratively with other members of the District Public team.
