About the role
We are looking for an HR Generalist to support our growing team. This role will answer questions from our staff, coordinate day-to-day people operations related to the employee life cycle — from onboarding to offboarding. They will also ensure compliance and best practices with a lens on DEI the whole way through. The Generalist will work to improve existing HR processes and systems. This is an opportunity to be an early employee in a small People team at a quickly growing startup.
Coordinating logistics for new hire onboarding and orientations
Supporting internal and external inquiries and requests related to the HR department
PTO and leave of absence coordination and management
Tech equipment coordination and management
Compiling and maintaining employee records (both in digital personnel files and within our payroll and benefits systems)
Assist with managing employee development process, including 360s and annual reviews
Supporting HR-related training programs, workshops and seminars
Working with the HR & legal team to monitor compliance
Continuously learn the latest HR best practices to improve workplace efficiency
Helping launch company-wide policies and procedures related to benefit programs, team development, required trainings and compliance
Workplace operations management, including NYC office support (this can be done remotely, no need to live in NYC)
Supporting employee celebrations such as anniversaries, promotions, and birthdays
Additional projects or tasks within the people team as needed
Required Skills and Experience
2+ years of general HR experience, preferably in an HR Generalist or People Operations role for one year
Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, such as a startup or nonprofit
Interest and familiarity with multi-state labor law and workplace compliance
Experience working in an HRIS and/or PEO, ensuring that data and systems are up to date
Experience bringing a DEI lens to all HR work
Experience managing and answering employee questions related to benefits
Strong project management and execution skills
Laser focused attention to detail
Customer service mindset and the desire to creating positive employee experience
Highly adaptable, empathetic individual who enjoys working in a fast-moving, ever-changing environment
