Sparkbox is looking for a frontend designer with a passion for building a better web. We’re always keeping our eyes out for great people—always looking, selectively hiring. The right person for this position loves collaboration with coworkers and clients and believes it brings about the best work. The right person also wants to work in a learning-hungry web environment and help lead the web industry by sharing.

If you’re right for this position, first and foremost you have stellar design skills and a portfolio to back it up. You feel right at home designing a visual language for a website and thinking about designing modularly for design systems. You care about the little details when it comes to typography, interactions, animations, user experience, and layout. You have a user-centric view of the web, know its limitations and possibilities, and care about performance.

The frontend designer position at Sparkbox is different from other web design positions in the industry. Our frontend designers both design and present initial concepts, and often write some level of frontend code. If this sounds like something that you’d love to do, read on!

arePassion and humility are vital, as you’ll work directly with our designers, project managers, and other developers at Sparkbox. You’ll also interact with clients and should feel comfortable presenting work. You’ll need to be eager to learn new things, advance your skills, and push to find new processes.

Experience and fluency in the latest web/design tools are required:

  • Figma
  • Sketch
  • Illustrator
  • Photoshop

Being comfortable with some level of code is preferred. You’ll be expected to work in our frontend build process that includes tools like:

  • Sass
  • Github
  • Handlebars
  • Node
  • JSON
  • Grunt
  • Gulp

Not required but a bonus if you have:

  • Experience with animation/prototyping tools (Principle, Framer, etc.)
  • Experience with UX research and user testing
  • CodePen Account

Inclusive Mindset

Sparkbox has been intentionally working to build a team where we acknowledge our own imperfections, make all feel welcome, and humbly help each other grow. If you can bring a fresh perspective to a team of humble people who love what they do, we’d love to talk with you.

In return for your outstanding work, Sparkbox offers the following:

  • Remote work
  • Flexible Schedule
  • Competitive Salary
  • Healthcare Insurance
