Shopify Technical Consultant

We have consistently been a bulwark against the radical right, channeling our voices to end wars, protect democracy, and advance justice for all.

Project title: MoveOn storefront upgrades / redesign

Project begins: March 15, 2023

Project length: Undetermined, but may be up to December 31, 2023. Up to 15 hours/week at $75/hour.

Any hours given in a scope of work are an estimate and MoveOn does not guarantee a specific number of hours to its contractors.

Project Overview:

Over the past year, MoveOn has significantly expanded its paid merch operation, all of which is run through store.moveon.org, hosted by Shopify.

The MoveOn store was built many years ago at a time when paid merch offers to our members were very rare, and as such is no longer meeting our higher volume needs.

We are looking to bring on a technical contractor with expertise in the Shopify platform to evaluate our existing store and backend functionality, learn our needs and current pain points, suggest changes and upgrades, and then lead on implementing those upgrades.

The exact length of this project will be determined in collaboration after evaluating the extent of upgrades needed.

RFP submission date: Please submit to proposals@moveon.org by February 15, 2023 and put “MoveOn storefront upgrades” in the subject line.

Scope of work:

Conduct an analysis of the existing MoveOn storefront (both front and back end functionality) and propose upgrades and changes to the UX, design, technical functions, reporting, etc.
Create a project plan, including additional budgetary needs if necessary, and present to the Team Lead for approval.
Implement the changes / upgrades that have been approved. (Note: The person in this role must be able to implement all backend changes on their own, and ideally would also be able to lead on frontend design changes. MoveOn’s tech and product teams may be able to provide some support, but the person in this role will be expected to be capable of implementing technical changes on their own.)
In collaboration with MoveOn staff, conduct a full QA of all changes implemented.
After changes have been made live, conduct an audit (or ongoing audits as individual changes go up) to determine customer satisfaction, any changes to sale numbers etc.
